Wise people say that to live longer and grow as a person you have to try something new.  We ask our students in class all year long to stretch themselves, get out of their comfort zone, risk a little shame.  The best way to teach them how to do that is to model it.

It’s scary, though.  We’re trying to impress our students with our knowledge, maintain class discipline and organization; how can I venture out on the limb that far?  I’m not as light as I was in college.  The limb might break and I could fall.   Read more
