Integrating Technology

Technology is an inescapable aspect of our complex world. However, its use need not be a mere concession to its necessity. Like many schools, we use computers in the classroom and computers are available to students for their own work. But technology does not end there.

At Monte del Sol we consider technology integral to the way in which we live and learn be it in a photography darkroom, a math class, or in a science laboratory. Examples include digital film-making, digital photography in conjunction with traditional methods, software in Algebra, Geometry, Biology, Physical Science, internet usage for project-oriented learning, desktop publishing of student literary work, and communicating with our sister city schools.

We have introduced MIT's 'Star Logo' program in Science classes and have simulated complex systems through the use of wearable computers.

Our technology program has expanded every year to support both academic and creative learning for students as well as to build a network based infrastructure on our growing campus. Students have access to both PC and Mac computers using programs such as ALEKS and Reading Plus and Apple have been especially supportive of our fledgling technology.
