Ronald M Simon Family Foundation Scholars

Each school year since 2005, the Ronald M. Simon Family Foundation has awarded five Monte del Sol students unique six year scholarships totaling $100,000.

Students are selected during their sophomore year and begin participation in their junior year.  Those selected must have demonstrated the ability to overcome adversity, have the drive and commitment necessary to continue higher education and demonstrate academic competence.

In their junior year, selected students receive $2,000 or the equivalent in academic support, such as a laptop computer, with the goal that the scholarship and tools will help to reduce the time needed to work an after-school job thereby allowing more time to be devoted to studies. A cash award is given in the senior year, followed by a $4,000 gift in each of the next four years of college as long as the criteria of academic competence is met.

Congratulations to 2005 winners: Anarosa Torres Cruz, Cesar Sanchez Guardado, Tsetan Tenzin Gyaltsen, Pilar Nieto, and Yadira Martinez (four shown here), who were feted at a formal lunch given by the Foundation at La Casa Sena in downtown Santa Fe.  And congratulations to 2006 recipients, Janet Romo, Raymi Reynolds Lynch, Hector Sanchez, Isaiah Nash and Tenzin Nyima Lhamo.
